This period we’ve witnessed the launch of telegram tap-to-earn projects as well as mining projects and surprisingly, new ones are still getting launched. Frogs happens to be one of the newest airdrop mini-apps on telegram and due to the tremendous success of Dogs, I decided to examine the project and publish my findings for others to take note of before joining.
Key Takeaways
- Frogs is a telegram mini-app that rewards new users based on the age and status of their telegram accounts.
- Users can earn more of the frogs token by completing tasks and referring new users at the time of writing this article.
- There are several signs or indications that it could be a waste of time and that includes, the poorly designed app, the suspicious catchphrase and introduction and finally, the fact that they’ve not been formally recognized by TON blockchain.
So in this article, we will go over all there is to know about the frogs airdrop bot, how to get started and finally, my observations after onboarding and completing some of the tasks. The aim of this review is to reveal all the facts and little details you may have skipped in the process of trying to test out the platform.
About Frogs and What It Offers
As previously stated, Frogs is another telegram mini-app that claims users who get onboarded and complete tasks will earn the frogs token with hopes of trading the earned tokens for other crypto assets later on or when token generation event happens.
This is the normal life cycle of every crypto airdrop and we’ve seen this happen a couple of times on other telegram projects.
When it comes to what frogs has to offer, there is a whole lot to talk about. First things first, users are rewarded with the frogs token upon sign up to the application based on the age and status of their telegram accounts. This is becoming the norm for most newly launched mini-apps on telegram, Money Dogs, Cats; rewards users based on the age and status of their accounts.
I guess they all borrowed this leaf from Dogs, so in that regard, there’s nothing new. After claiming the initial tokens upon sign up, you will be shown a couple of tasks to complete, among which you will also find referral milestones which means, when you refer the fixed number of users to frogs, you get rewarded specifically for the effort.
How to Get Started
To get started, you need to have a telegram account, if you are, just open the app and use the search button. Type in Frogs and click on the first option, then send /start to the bot to access the main options which includes opening the main game and claiming the token based on your account age.
You will be rewarded with certain number of token depending on age and status of your account. Users who are on premium subscription gets a slightly higher reward but apart from the initial bonus, there’s no other special treatment for such users
All users can now earn via completion of tasks or referring new users. When you refer, you earn some additional frogs token and it also accumulates to unlock the milestone rewards.
On the dashboard, you will find three main features or tabs, and they are as follows;
- Tasks – this is not really a tab but it’s a boldly displayed feature on the homepage that lets you complete various social and referral tasks to unlock additional rewards. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty much all you are required to do after claiming the initial bonuses.
- Leaderboard – the leaderboard tab displays the top 300 holders of the frogs token. You get to see where you are on the leaderboard as well the users with the most number of tokens. It serves as a form of motivation for users to put their best foot forward in earning and accumulating more of the token.
- Friends – this is the referral program page. Though, it doesn’t display well, you’re given the chance to either copy your referral link or share it to others and groups to stand a chance of earning more rewards when users create an account using your link.
- Connect wallet – there is an option to connect your TON wallet to the game upon sign up. This is highly unadvisable and I will tell you why I said so later on.
That’s all the features and tabs you will find on frogs but the main question probably going through your mind at the moment is whether the frogs project is legit or scam? Well, that’s the essence of this review and if I don’t talk about it, there is no point calling this a review.
Final Verdict
Regarding the question of whether frogs is legit or scam, I would say there is no conclusive answer to it. If I say it’s scam, then I am being irresponsible because it’s just newly launched. There is no way to say a newly launched crypto project is scam when it’s just getting started.
However, there are certain downsides or suspicious things about it that are worth revealing to intending users;
1. Poorly designed Application – applications on telegram are referred to as mini-apps because they are existing under a parent app which is telegram but, being mini-apps doesn’t restrict the developers from being unique in designing. Frogs appears to be a failed copy attempt of the original dogs project.
The user interface looks very similar that if not for the name, a novice would think it’s dogs version 2. But even at that, they failed to replicate perfectly what can be found in the previous project. At the footer area, you will find a privacy policy page, on Dogs, you can actually download and read the policy.
Same privacy policy is available on frogs but unlike the former, there is no text in the so called privacy policy page. I downloaded frogs privacy policy, only to meet a completely blank page when I opened it. What does this signal? It means that, whoever developed it, tried so hard to replicate what’s exactly on dogs but failed to complete the job.
Additionally, the referral page is not displaying accurately. It looks like a work not done completely because you can’t even scroll down to see the full text about the referral incentive and there’s no way to see the names of people you’ve referred and their details.
2. Server Issues – frogs was launched some days ago and guess what, they are already having downtimes and maintenance periods. I understand that anything hosted on the Internet may break down at anytime and require maintenance but for a project that just launched and hasn’t even gotten any attention having such a significant server breakdown to the extent of requiring maintenance; that’s certainly a red flag worth noting before you get your hopes up.
3. Suspicious Introduction – this is purely my opinion but I feel frogs is a mediocre project. Reason being that, their introductory text isn’t really standard. The first official tweet from them has a clickbait tone “Missed the chance for Dogs, then frogs is something you should never miss“. Projects with such sensational catchphrase never perform well in the long run.
I have had my fair share of experience in the crypto space and no serious project starts off talking about people who missed another seemingly successful project, it’s never done and if you should go back and check other serious telegram airdrops that have paid users, they never operated with such a catchphrase. It’s a mediocre introduction used to attract users and enjoy undue attention from people who may have missed out on dogs.
Additionally, their telegram channel was created for a different purpose until some days ago, the administrator then changed the name of the channel and then announced the launch of Frogs. This is a negative sign and it’s highly suspicious because no one knows what the channel was used for in the past and it shows the telegram channel wasn’t created from the start with intention of launching something visionary.
They just hopped into the trend to make money from unsuspecting individuals who cashed out from Dogs and those who missed out.
4. Not recognized by TON – they claim to be on TON blockchain but there’s been no official recognition. So it is highly unadvisable for users to connect their TON wallet to the bot at the moment; if you are going to participate regardless of the downsides, make sure you don’t connect wallet till there’s an official recognition of the project by the blockchain to avoid putting your funds at risk.
Conclusion
From my personal analysis, I don’t think frogs will do well, even if the project advances in the future, it will certainly not serve as a replacement to the just concluded Dogs airdrop. It appears to be an unserious, mediocre project launched for the sole purpose of enjoying an undue attention of the teeming population of crypto enthusiasts who made some money from successful ones.
