MTN Digital Bundles are the newest addition to the list of data plans on the network if I’m not mistaken and the data allocation and prices for activation of these bundles makes them really stand out from the crowd thus the publication of this article. It won’t come as a surprise to me if many of us are learning about the digital bundles for the first time because it can mainly be activated online, unlike the usual offline/ussd code activation process we’re all used to.
In this article, we will be having a look at all there is to know about the MTN digital bundles which includes, the eligibility criteria; if any and the various plans in this category and their validity periods or how long they last before expiry. Validity of a data plan is key for many as not everyone does so much on the Internet and even those that spend much time on the Internet still care about validity period of data plans as that gives a form of assurance should you skip one or two days without using the Internet, you will still have a feeling of relaxation that your plan is still very much valid.
Without wasting much time, let’s get down to what you ought to know about the digital bundles recently introduced by MTN and whether it’s a good one for you and your Internet needs.
About MTN Digital Bundles
The MTN digital bundles are affordable plans that give you more for less. As a subscriber, you get to enjoy more data allocation without breaking the bank or spending above your budget. Interestingly the plans are flexible in the sense that they have different validity periods and prices which literally cater for everyone who may be interested.
Personally, I feel the introduction of these digital bundles is another way of promoting the MoMo service because it plays a major role in the activation of any of these data bundles.
Eligibility Criteria and Requirements
There is no eligibility criteria for activation or purchase of the MTN digital bundles, what you find however, is there are few requirements for whoever intends purchasing the data plans.
The few requirements needed for the activation or purchase of these bundles are as follows;
- MTN MoMo wallet activated. The MoMo service is not a new initiative, it’s actually a mobile bank set up by the network to enable users access banking without having to visit any physical branch for account opening. Everything financial, be it bill payments, transfers, receiving money etc can be done on MoMo using your phone. The code to activate the MoMo service on your line is, *671# and then you follow the prompts to get it set up. Your MTN phone number is your account number.
- The second requirement or what you should have before you can purchase the digital bundles is the MTN self care application otherwise known as MyMTN App. This is available on iOS and Android application stores.
- Finally, an ATM card or debit card should you not want to enroll on the MoMo service. You can purchase the bundles with your bank’s debit card anytime you want to whether you hace airtime on your line or not. That’s why it’s a requirement *winks* 😉
MTN Digital Bundles Price List & Validity
There are three main data bundles currently available in the digital category and they are as follows;
1. 1GB For 200 Naira Data Plan – this is a daily bundle, which means you have to use it up completely before a period of 24 hours, otherwise it will expire as there is no provision for auto renewal on the plan.
2. 3.5gb for 500 Naira – another daily plan but the difference is, you get to use the plan for 2 days before expiry. Bear it in mind before activating thos particular plan. There is no way to renew, so you may have to use the 3.5gb completely before 48 hours.
3. 15gb for 2,000 Naira – like the saying goes, save the best for last”. The 15gb digital bundle is actually the best in this category as long as I’m concerned and it’s not just me calling it best; when I first sighted the plans on MyMTN app, I asked some people questions about the juiciness of the plan and they all agreed it’s very interesting. To further buttress this fact, the 15gb for 2000 naira plan is actually weekly plan, which means you wouldn’t have to worry about urgent expiry.
How to Buy the MTN Digital Bundles
This is where the show gets interesting. Unlike other data bundles that can be purchased using ussd or by dialing some codes, the digital bundles as the name implies, can be purchased only on the Mobile App or MTN eshop.

You can access the MTN eShop directly from the link attached above and you can only purchase the plans using your debit card or from your MoMo wallet as previously mentioned.
To activate the digital bundles on the MyMTN, simply launch the app, click on the Bold Plus Icon at the center and then select Data Bundles.
You will be taken to a new section to select the category of data you intend purchasing, simply select Digital Bundles to see the plans both the daily and weekly. Then you can proceed to purchase anyone that suits your taste.
Cons
- No Auto renewal feature or option available for subscribers who opt for any of the plans.
- Can’t be purchased using airtime, which means people who don’t have a MoMo account or don’t have the courage to use their debit cards for online purchases won’t be able to use the plan for now.
- Only available “digitally“, since it has to do with using debit card and MoMo, automatically that entails that much older adults who are only used to dialing ussd codes for their data purchases and transactions are completely exempted from this “digital process and digital data” (Intentional tautology) 😂

If I subscribe to the 15GB weekly for N2,000 , and couldn’t finish it up in a week , can I buy a new one to roll it over.
Also can the data balance be shared ??
The data doesn’t rollover and also can’t be shared.
I just got the 2k for 15gb and when I use ussd code to check my data balance it doesn’t reflect but when I check my mtn app it reflects, does it mean the data has entered my phone or not?
Can I do the digital bundle if I’m owing airtime on MTN ?
